Komiks·Lab update 2026-11-05 — what changed
Update of · All updates
Short notes on what changed in the app for learning Norwegian with comics.
-
🗓️ New “Quiz of the day: weekdays”: once a day a fun little window pops up with five questions based on the real date — what day it is today, tomorrow, yesterday, the day after tomorrow, in three days or the day before yesterday, how to say “Thursday” in Norwegian and what “torsdag” means. After each answer you get a breakdown (“torsdag + 3 = søndag”), a week strip and the story behind the name: torsdag is Thor’s day, onsdag is Odin’s day, søndag is the Sun’s day. Days you got wrong come up more often. Play again on the “Today” page.

A test after the comic -
🎯 Settings now have “Task difficulty” for learners who find the tests too easy: 🙂 Normal, 🔥 Hard and 🏆 Ace. On Hard the wrong options look like the right answer (vann / venn / varm), there are “What does the word mean?” tasks and five options. Ace gives six options, dictation by ear (“Listen and write the word”) and gaps you can only fill by typing. The new tasks also come with the “Why?” explanation.

Norwegian words by theme -
🧩 The “My mistakes” test is fairer: the options are now the same kind as the answer — letters among letters, words with an article among words with an article. Before, “ei erfaringsutveksling”, “E” and “modig” could stand side by side, and the answer could be guessed without knowing anything.

A test after the comic -
💬 Grammar: every topic now has a “Øv med tegneserier” box — comics where exactly this grammar appears most often (pronouns, past tense, conjunctions, the passive…). The grammar dashboard is more compact: progress rings, bars with your best and latest score, and the full list folded under “Show all”.

Reading a comic with audio -
🖼 Pictures in test options now fit the screen height: on laptops and phones you see all four frames, not three.

A test after the comic -
🌍 Translations: the alphabet page (sounds, diphthongs, silent letters, syllables), grammar rules and examples, the hover dictionary (over 4,000 words) and the word topic names are now translated into every site language — German, Polish, Turkish, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic.

Norwegian grammar -
💬 Community chat: “Messages” now shows a “We now have a community chat” card. If your profile is private, one tap opens it and takes you to the chat — then people in the chat can find you and add you as a friend. The chat no longer stretches on phones when you reply or someone writes a very long word. Reports in the chat reach the moderators faster.

Friends -
👤 Profile: you can now add up to five interest hashtags (for example #matte, #norsk), and profile sharing is switched on in one place — the “Privacy” page — with no duplicate in your account.
